General Summary :
Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Basketball Coach supports the development of student-athletes through effective instruction, skill development, sportsmanship and a positive team culture. Collegiate School is seeking a
Middle School Head Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 winter season.
Essential Duties: • Coach and support student-athletes during practices and games throughout the assigned season.
• Provide basketball instruction and support age-appropriate skill development.
• Promote a positive team culture and strong sportsmanship.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the coaching staff and School community.
• Support a positive and developmentally appropriate experience for student-athletes.
• Fulfill the schedule and game-day commitments associated with the assigned coaching position.
Practice times :
• Mondays: approximately 3:20-4:00 p.m.
• Tuesdays through Thursdays: approximately 2:30-4:00 p.m.
• Games are typically held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• No regular Friday or weekend commitments.
Season :
• Season: November 9, 2026-February 25, 2027
• Approximately 50 days
• The season includes Thanksgiving break and approximately two weeks during the December/January school break.
Education and Experience: • Prior basketball coaching and/or playing experience.
• Experience working effectively with Middle or Upper School-aged students.
Special Requirements: - Must be able to complete a background check with fingerprint clearance.
- Must possess or obtain, prior to the start of the season, current First Aid and CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaching colleagues and members of the School community.
• Commitment to sportsmanship, positive team culture, and student-athlete development.
